Blog 4- Mind Tools

The title of the article is “How Good Is Your Time Management?”  The article covers the main roadblocks to effective time management and possible solutions for each topic.  The article begins by discussing the importance of knowing where you are with time management skills. A Time Management Quiz is provided to help you identify the aspects of time management you need most help with. The key points covered are: goal setting, procrastination, prioritizing, managing interruptions, and scheduling. I, not surprisingly, need help with all of them. After taking the quiz, above my score it said, “oops, start at the beginning with goal setting” an area I never considered when making my to-do list and managing my time.
I found this article very helpful and useful both for school and the workplace.  The article discusses scheduling both priority tasks and contingency time for unexpected events.  Using these tips in my scheduling will decrease stress in my life and allow me to focus and create higher-quality work in less time.   Good time management skills, and thus, less stress, will allow me to be more productive and creative at work.  Incorporating personal goals in my scheduling and time management is another useful tool and will help keep my personal and work life in a healthier balance.

Blog 3- Laptop Buying Guide

As a student, I will look for laptop that is great for writing papers and doing research, which is my primary need of a laptop.  Apple's 13-inch MacBook is a prime example of a good and reliable laptop. According to the website, the laptop will need at least 1GB of RAM; 160GB or larger HDD; 13-inch or smaller display.
I will look in the thin and light category for laptops.  A 13-inch laptop is the smallest size I would be comfortable working on all day, and at the same time, portable enough to carry with me. I will need a dual-core CPU. The laptop I would purchase is the Apple Macbook/ Intel Core Duo Processor/13.3” Display/ 2GB Memory/ 250 GB Hard Drive priced at 939.99 before tax, shipping and handling. It would meet all my needs and is an extremely reliable laptop.

Blog 2

The article is about a former refugee turned hero, Andeisha Farid, 28, who founded the Afghan Child Education and Care Organization in Kabul in 2008 to create orphanages that provide safe environments, places to learn and paths to the future.  Andeisha grew up in refugee camps in Iran and Pakistan. The difficult experiences in her childhood were part of her inspiration to work to improve the lives of Afghan orphans.  She has provided assistance in various forms to over 650 children in Afghanistan and Pakistan and helped found 11 orphanages.  Andeisha believes education is the key to empowering the children to overcome their past and encouraging them to become positive and productive members in their society.
I believe those involved in social work, orphanages, adoption, child advocacy, educators, and missionaries all over the globe would find this article useful.  I really enjoyed reading this article.  Andeisha is an inspirational woman who continually works to improve the lives of the orphans despite all the obstacles she faces such as: security issues, budget problems and  gender inequality.
